My mom took a job teaching at private school in Chandler so that she could afford to send me there too. The 101 hadn’t been completed yet so every day she would make the long drive to and from North Scottsdale on surface streets to make sure I got the education she wanted for me. Later, I would beg her to let me go to our local district school with all of my friends. She let me, but she never hesitated to give me extra instruction at home, or even pull me out of class and homeschool me, to make sure I got the education she wanted me to have. I went on to graduate from Chandler High and Georgetown University with honors. My life could have ended up very differently. I got the chance to succeed because my mom, who never gave up on me, had choices when it came to my education.

Caring for America Charity - Purse Impressions

Purse-Impressions, in Cave Creek, is on a mission to help women and men celebrate substance abuse recovery with their fresh start purses, backpacks, and other necessary items.

As part of their transition to wellness and self support, women and their children may receive accommodations at Weldon House - a 20 unit apartment setting for women with children who are experiencing a multitude of barriers making sustained recovery unobtainable without additional help. The program works closely with individuals to help them believe in themselves and access resources necessary for their individual concerns such as job training, education, day care, transportation, health care, clothing, and medication management.

Here's a list of items that new clients receive when they're about to enter Weldon House with their children. AWRC relies heavily on gently used and/or new items to sustain the warehouse where items are stored. The women take everything with them when they transition to a home outside of the AWRC.

If club members have items to donate that they prefer not to bring to the meeting, our member and program manager of Caring for America, Dee Boemer, would be happy to make arrangements to pick them up.

For our April 13th Meeting - our theme is

April Message from Club President Linda Rizzo

Paradise Republican Women’s Club needs YOU!

What it means to volunteer...

Volunteering is the act of rendering selfless service to a cause, oftentimes for free and without coercion. It is about giving time to a good cause, specifically to help an organization, your community or an individual you are not related to.

PRWC has need of a 2nd Vice President Membership who can keep track of new/renewed Members and interact with the Treasurer and the Registrar, distribute New Member Packets and attend the Executive Committee meetings. Will train.

Do you have Communications experience? Like to design? PRWC is needing a Newsletter Creator. The program used is Constant Contact.

The Office of Secretary is vacant. This person will record minutes of the Executive Committee meetings and any other Club meetings. Will train.

It is critical these positions be filled.

If you have any interest in serving your Club, please contact President Linda Rizzo at (480) 766-6606.

I look forward to seeing you at our meeting April 13th!

Best regards,

Linda E. Rizzo

President
